First Week of School

We Made It!

It’s Thursday and we have made it through the first week of school. The students and the faculty are feeling the burn!

Although we will miss the summer and all that entails, sleeping in, staying up late, no schedules,  it is so good to see the kids.  We forget our purpose until we see them.    I always feel that I was led to White Oak Intermediate for a purpose and that includes taking care of my teachers, my principal, and the students.  Our faculty always strives and goes above and beyond to work with your child and help them succeed.  I am thankful to be part of the White Oak Community and blessed to have had my children and grandchildren go through this district.

Mrs. D’s Fish Bowl

If you are wondering why I call my blog site Mrs. D’s Fish Bowl it is because I sit up front and everything swirls around me and everyone can see me all the time. Thus, I feel like I am in a fish bowl! I love my job at White Oak Intermediate though and wouldn’t trade it for more money! Our students and parents are the best and you can’t beat the quality of teachers that we have. I come back to work on the first Monday in August and will be ready to get after it. See you soon!

Last day of school

SummerFunBoys

Yeah,  we have finally reached the end of the 2009-2010 school year! This year really went by fast for me.  We have some wonderful students here and I will be sad to see our 5th graders move on to Middle School.   The great parents will be missed too but Middle School will welcome them with open arms.    The students and faculty are always excited for the summer vacation to start as am I,  but I always think about those students we have that summer won’t be a pleasant experience.   Not everyone has movie dates, camps, plenty of food to eat and loving grandparents/parents to visit and watch over them.    We will be here waiting for you when school starts and begin another fabulous school year at White Oak Intermediate.

Today was picture day and our kids looked so cute!   I saw lots of smiles today.  I think we are suppose to have a sunny weekend and I can’t wait!   I am taking the day off tomorrow to have quiet time for the morning.  In the afternoon I plan on picking up the grandchildren  and attending my first pep rally of the year.  Go Roughnecks!

Wonderful Wednesday

Third grade students practiced today for their TAKS Math test.   They are so grown up this year getting ready for TAKS.   The kids are busy talking about what they will dress up for on Halloween.  Maybe I will see everyone at the White Oak High School Fall Festival Saturday night or White Oak Community Church Fall Fest on Sunday.  Please check the Intermediate web site for Red Ribbon Week which will be next week.   We have some fun things planned for the week.   You don’t want to miss out!

Volunteer Orientation

Wednesday, October 21st at 2:00 p.m. in Room 125 on the Primary campus.  Please check in at either campus before the meeting.  State of Texas requires all volunteers in public school to have a criminal background check yearly.  Forms will be available at this meeting.  The background check must be completed before you can volunteer.

And I wonder, Still I wonder, who will stop the rain?

Thinking about the song from Creedance Clearwater.  Wow I am ready for some relief.  Need to run errands after school but who wants to get out in this?   Hope the students enjoyed being out on Monday.   Check out Intermediate Campus web site when you want to be informed of upcoming events.  I am learning more each day from our technology guru, Mrs. Cranford.
